Bury Oral Health Improvement Team

Bury Oral Health Improvement Team leads on the implementation and maintenance of a range of evidence based programmes to reduce both the levels of oral disease and inequalities of oral health in Bury.

The team also delivers training to key workforces and health professionals and carers.

With a particular focus on early years, laying the foundations for good oral health, the team targets areas and settings with the highest levels of poor oral health.

The Oral Health Team Bury has developed a digital resources page which has many useful links and resources to promote good oral health at:

Our programmes

Daily supervised toothbrushing – offered to all early years settings, reception classes, special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) provision in primary schools within the borough. This includes the Brush Bus Scheme in nursery, pre-school and school early years foundation stage (EYFS) settings.

Golden Apple Award Scheme – designed for early years settings who wish to improve nutrition, hygiene and dental health amongst children in their care.

Brushing For Life – oral health packs are provided to health visiting teams. This supports them to promote the importance of daily toothbrushing with a family fluoride toothpaste. This is also the perfect opportunity to discuss oral health at baby / child health assessments.

Oral health updates and training – delivered to those working in or with early years, including both health professionals and non-health professionals.
